Course Description:

Rural Public Health is an intensive course designed to give students an understanding of the influence of rural and remoteness on health, with emphasis on the implications for India and the South Asia Region. The focus of the course is around determinants of rural health, models of rural and remote health service delivery and the public health strategies used to reduce the severity of health risks for rural communities. Students will gain an understanding of challenges and issues of rural health and how rural health professionals and communities are working together to improve the health of their communities. This training program is a blended program of ' on campus ' learning in Jodhpur with a simulated rural experience, Field Trip and Site Visits to immerse students in an experiential learning experience, broadening students life skills and experience. The assessment tasks provide the students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a practical format that prepares them for employment or further study.

Course Objective :

At the end of the course, the students must be able to:
  1. Understand the principles of rural health
  2. Apply the principles of epidemiology to rural health issues
  3. Identify determinants of rural Health disparity
  4. Demonstrate the necessary skills to address the health needs of rural communities
  5. Develop Strategies to improve rural health
  6. 6. Identify and discuss the implications of course material for India and South Asia Region

Course Credit :

Two credits will be assigned on successful completion of this course

Evaluation Scale(Grade) A (≥90% ) B (80%-89%) C (65%-79%) Below 65%-Not pass
